Wazzup?

  • This is a short project where the objective was to design a social networking mobile application for a teenage babysitter.

  • Due to the time constraints we restricted our user research to teenage friends and family. Based on this research, we developed a persona. This persona lead the design of our application.

  • This is a wireframe of the map screen. Each bubble represents the friends in that area. On touching this bubble the user is shown details of those friends. Please view the prototype and application map for details.

  • This is a wireframe of the events screen. The public events are shown on this screen. The user may also create private events from here. Please view the application map below.

  • This is a wireframe of the friends screen. This shows details of the friends and their locations. Users may set their visibility and select the people who can locate them.

  • This screen shows the user directions and time required to reach a particular place.

Project description

This was a project for our basic interaction design class where we designed a mobile application for teenagers to locate the latest events and friends at public places.

Process

We designed a persona of a teenage babysitter who had recently moved to a new town and wanted to fit into her new group of friends and read articles on the needs of mobile application designs within given constraints. Given the time constraint of two weeks, our professors Jodi Forlizzi and Eric Paulos had asked us to depend on our personna and not any brick and mortar studies for our user research. We created a prototype and demo in flash and presented it to the class.

Design

Based on the needs identified for our personna we designed the application 'Wazzup?'. It located friends within specified radius, found out the public and private current events and allowed users to create or accept invitations, send customized messages and view directions to the place.
